The Week After Christmas

Family and Motherhood, My Story, Our Journey

The week after Christmas is often a time for relaxation and rejuvenation. It’s a chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and spend quality time with loved ones.

Many people use this week to catch up on rest, watch their favorite movies and TV shows, and indulge in their favorite foods and drinks. It’s a time to let go of the stress and obligations of the holiday season and simply enjoy being in the present moment.

For those who celebrate Christmas, this week after the holiday is also a time to reflect on the true meaning of the season. It’s a time to give thanks for all the blessings in our lives and to consider how we can be more compassionate and giving in the coming year.

However, the week after Christmas can also bring sadness. The decorations come down, the family and friends go back to their normal routines. You might head back to work, or maybe your home with the kiddos and there is LOTS of free time. Instead of being sad about the holiday being over, be excited about what this special week could be for you and your family.

Use this week to prepare for 2023, whether goal planning, travel planning or financial planning. Take your kids to do things you wouldn’t normally do like ice skating, visiting local museums or hiking. You can take a fun outing to a nearby town or city to explore all the sights and sounds of the holiday season. Many locations keep their holiday decorations up well into January.

Kevin took this week off of work. YAY! So we are spending time together as a family, playing lots of board games, like Ticket to Ride and Mario Party. Kevin and I are sitting down writing out our 2023 goals, personally, with my business, as a family, and financially. Do you write out goals for the coming year? One of our favorite things to do is create a vision for the next year. We ask ourselves questions like: What do we want next year to look like? Where do we want to travel, with and without the kids? Where do we want our finances to be by 2024? What are some charities we want to donate to? These are just a few of the questions we start asking each other to begin to prepare for next year. It’s important to have a vision, then from that vision you can write down specific goals.

Regardless of how you end up spending this week, I hope that you find it fulfilling with lots of love, happiness and adventure! Until next year!
